10 On May 18, 2010, the Teacher Standards and Practices Commission (Commission)
11 issued a Notice of Opportunity for Hearing to Susan Christina Alderson (Alderson) in which the
12 Commission charged her with Gross Neglect of Duty pursuant to OAR 584-020-0040(4)(g), (i),
13 (j), (m) and (n). The Notice was sent via U.S. First Class Mail and U.S. Certified MaiI Receipt
14 7009 1410 0002 1902 5221 to the address on file with the Commission. The Certified Mail was
15 signed for on May 19, 2010. The Notice of Opportunity of Hearing, dated May 18, 2010, and
16 signed by Victoria Chamberlain, Executive Director, stated:

l7 “If you want a hearing, you must fiIe a written request for a hearing with the Commission
18 within 21 days of the date of this notice."

20 Ms. Alderson did not request a hearing. The Commission, therefore, finds Ms. Alderson
21 to be in default and enters the following findings of fact, conclusions of law and order, based on
22 the fiIes and records of the Commission concerning this matter.

24 FINDINGS OF FACT

25 1. On February 2, 2010, in the Circuit Court of the State of Oregon for Marion County,
26 Susan Alderson pIed guilty, and was convicted of 1s‘ Degree Rape, two counts; 1S‘ Degree

27 Sodomy, two counts; 3rd Degree Sexual Abuse, two counts; and 2"d degree Sexual Abuse, two
28 counts.

30 CONCLUSIONS OF LAW

31 Susan Christina AIderson's criminal convictions for Rape, Sodomy and Sexual Abuse
32 constitute gross neglect of duty in violation of: OAR 584-020-0040(1)(g) (ORS 163.375), OAR
33 584-020-0040(1)(j) (ORS 163.405), OAR 584-020-0040(1)(m) (ORS 163.415) and OAR 584-
34 020-0040(1)(n) (ORS 163.425). The Commission’s authority to impose discipline in this matter
35 is based upon ORS 342.175.

3 The Commission hereby revokes the Standard Teaching License issued to Susan
4 Christina Alderson and revokes her right to apply for a teaching license.
