MICHAEL DEAN JAGER REVOKING TEACHING LICENSE

6 On July 31, 2000, the Teacher Standards and Practices Commission (Commission) issued
7 a Notice of Opportunity for Hearing to Michael Dean Jager in which the Commission charged
8 Mr. Jager with misconduct and proposed to suspend, revoke or impose other discipline under
9 ORS 342,177. Mr. Jager and the Commission have now reviewed the matters alleged and have
10 agreed that their respective interests, together with the public interest are best served by a
11 stipulation to certain facts and a revocation of Mr, Jager’s right to apply for reinstatement of his
~ 12 teaching license, This agreement sets for the facts upon which the parties have agreed and the
13 Commission’s order,
14 STIPULATED FACTS
15 1. Mr. Jager held a basic Oregon Teaching License from August 1988 until May 9,
16 2000, when the licensed expired. Mr. Jager does not hold a currently valid teaching license,
17 2. Mr. Jager was employed as a teacher for the Medford School District from 1988
l8 until he resigned his position on about March 29, 1999.

. l 3. On June l9, 2000, Mr. Jager was convicted of the crime of Sexual Abuse in the
2 First Degree (ORS 163.427) in the Circuit Court of the State of Oregon for Jackson County.

8 CONCLUSIONS OF LAW
9 l. ORS 342.175 authorizes the Commission to revoke the right Of any person to
10 apply for a license if the person has held a license at any time within five years prior to the issue
11 of notice of charges.
. 12 2. Mr. Jager was convicted of Sexual Abuse in the First Degree, and the
13 Commission is required to revoke the license or the right to apply for reinstatement of a license
l4 Of any person who has been convicted of Sexual Abuse in the First Degree. ORS 342.143(3) and
lS 342. 175.

17 Based on the foregoing, the Commission revokes the right of Michael Dean Jager to
l8 apply for reinstatement of his Ore/gt? Teaching License.
