.1 1 ' ‘ O O . l STATE 0F OREGON 2 TEACHER STANDARDS AND PRACTICES COMMISSION 3 In the Matter of the ) Teaching License of ) SURRENDER 0F TEACHING 4 ROMEY ROY ARMES ) LICENSE, STIPULATION AND 5 ) ORDER OF REVOCATION 6 On December 2, 1997, the Teacher Standards and Practices 7 Commission (Commission) issued a Notice of Opportunity for 8 hearing to Romey Roy Armes in which the Commission proposed to 9 suspend or revoke the teaching license or impose other discipline 10 under ORS 342.177, based upon alleged misconduct, including 11 sexual contact with a student. Mr. Armes requested a hearing 12 through his attorney, Sean Lyell, on December 10, 1997. 13 The Commission and Mr. Armes have now reviewed the matters . 14 alleged and have agreed that their respective interests, together 15 with the public interest are best served by a surrender of Mr. 16 Armes's teaching license and a stipulation to certain facts. In 17 entering this stipulation, Mr. Armes waives his right to a 18 hearing and understands that the Commission will accept the 19 surrender of his license and issue an order revoking the license. 20 STIPULATED FACTS 21 Mr. Armes agrees and stipulates to the following findings of 22 fact by the Commission: 23 1. Mr. Armes holds a standard teaching license with a 24 subject endorsement in music. 25 2. Mr. Armes was employed as a teacher with the Beaverton 26 School District from August 30, 1966 to April 30, 1997, when he . resigned his position with the district.
