1 BEFORE THE TEACHER STANDARDS AND PRACTICES COMMISSION . 2 OF THE STATE OF OREGON i In the Matter of the ) 5 Teaching License of ) STIPULATION OF FACTS g MARY MARGARET ECHANIS g AND ORDER OF REVOCATION 8 On April 29, 2002, the Teacher Standards and Practices Commission 9 (Commission) received a report from Dennis Carter, Superintendent, Ontario School ‘ 10 District indicating that Mary Margaret Echanis (Echanis) used her position as a teacher 11 to access student CIM files to create a forged CIM report for her son, a student at ' 12 Ontario High School. 13 Ms. Echanis fully cooperated with the Commission's investigation. After a review 14 of the matters alleged, Ms. Echanis and the Commission have agreed that their 15 respective interests, together with the public interest, are best served by a stipulation of .16 facts and a voluntary surrender of Ms. Echanis’ Oregon Teaching License in 17 accordance with OAR 584-050-0027. In entering into this stipulation, Ms. Echanis 18 waives her right to a hearing and understands that the Commission will accept the 19 voluntary surrender of her license and will revoke the license. 20 Ms. Echanis enters into this Stipulation of Facts with knowledge the Commission 21 will revoke her Oregon Teaching License. This stipulation is contingent upon approval 22 and adoption of the order by the Commission. She resigned effective May 31, 2002. 6 3. Ms. Echanis accessed student CIM files and created a forged CIM report for 7 her son, a student at Ontario High School. 8 4.
