BEFORE THE TEACHER STANDARDS AND PRACTICES COMMISSION OF THE STATE OF OREGON In the Matter of the ) Teaching License of ) DEFAULT ORDER MARK RAYMOND WILLIAMS ) REVOKING LICENSE ) On or about April 28, 1997, the Teacher Standards and Practices Commission received information that Mark Raymond Williams had been cited for Contributing to the Sexual Delinquency of a Minor and Sex Abuse III and that these allegations involved a female student in the district. On August 25, 1997, Williams was convicted of the crimes of Sex Abuse III and Official Misconduct in Yamhill County District Court. The Executive Secretary took action to notify Williams of intent to revoke his Oregon Teaching License, and to inform him of his opportunity for hearing. The notice was dated September 25, 1997, and signed by David V. Myton, Executive Secretary. Mr. Williams did not request a hearing. FINDINGS OF FACT I 1. Mark Raymond Williams holds a Standard Teaching License endorsed in music and valid from September 2, 1994 to June 19, 2000. 2. On August 25, 1997, Williams was convicted of the crimes 0f Sex Abuse III and Official Misconduct on August 25, 1997 in Yamhill County District Court. Williams was sentenced to a 30 day jail sentence for each conviction to be served concurrently. Williams also received five years probation for each ‘ conviction. l 3. These crimes involved a female high school student in Dayton School District where Williams was employed as a teacher. ULTIMATE FINDINGS OF FACT Mark Raymond Sherman plead "no contest" and was convicted of one count of Sex Abuse III and one count of Official Misconduct in Yamhill County District Court on August 25, 1997.
